Starting point

  • The structural engineer delivers the structural concept as a sketch, not a model; the architect still needs reliable structural geometry in the architecture model.
  • Without binding exclusion zones and early checks, components get planned in no-go zones - leading to costly follow-up changes.

  • Maintain the structural concept as a rough structural sketch in the architecture model and mark it as load-bearing.
  • Verify the structural engineer's exclusion zone model as a binding planning boundary and document the proof.

Process

  1. The structural engineer delivers the exclusion zone model; the architect transfers the structural concept as a rough sketch into the architecture model (LoadBearing=TRUE).
  2. Merge both models in the federated model.
  3. Verify that architecture geometry and other disciplines do not violate the exclusion zones; document the proof.

Outcome

  • Verified compliance with exclusion zones as the planning basis for design development and permitting.
