Align load-bearing components between architecture and structural models - as previously done on 2D concrete pouring plans, now in the model.
Starting point
- Alignment between architecture and structural engineering previously happened on 2D concrete pouring plans.
- Without model alignment, deviations arise between architecture and structural geometry - affecting formwork, quantities, and coordination.
Goal & benefit
- Carry the same load-bearing components in both discipline models with aligned Name.
- Check across disciplines for deviations, clashes, and missing assignments.
Process
- Architect and structural engineer model the same components in their discipline models (architecture rough, structure near-execution).
- Align Name per element and merge models in the federated model.
- Check for deviations, clashes, and missing assignments; approve the result bindingly.
Outcome
- Aligned architecture and structural models as the binding planning basis for construction project and execution.
Deliverables
- Architecture model with rough load-bearing components as IfcFooting, IfcSlab, IfcColumn, IfcBeam, and IfcRoof (pitched) with LoadBearing=TRUE
- Structural model with the same component types as IfcFooting, IfcSlab, IfcColumn, and IfcBeam (near-execution)
- IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and IfcBuildingStorey in both models
- Name per element, consistent across both discipline models
