Plan coordination zones

Which areas are coordinated in which coordination meeting - instead of everything against everything.

Starting point

• On large projects, coordinating all models against all models does not scale; effort explodes and benefit drops.
• Without planned coordination zones, meeting scopes and commitments stay unclear.

Goal & benefit

• Maintain the coordination programme volumetrically in the model: each area is assigned to a named meeting.
• Make coordination scope and priority understandable for all disciplines.

Process

1. Define coordination zones and the associated meetings.
2. Model the zones as proxy volumes and set the meeting name in Name.
3. Use the model as the basis for the coordination plan and meeting scopes.

Outcome

• Volumetric model showing which area belongs to which coordination meeting.

Deliverables

• Coordination zone model as IfcBuildingElementProxy with PredefinedType=USERDEFINED and ObjectType=Koordinationszone
• Name per zone = coordination meeting designation
• IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and IfcBuildingStorey; assign zones to the matching storey
