Existing site survey

DES-EXISTING-SITE · General · Design

Survey terrain and position reference on the existing site as the basis for demolition/new build or conversion strategies.

Starting point

  • Decisions on demolition, new build, or conversion need reliable terrain and position information.
  • Without a shared reference frame (LV95) and an up-to-date survey, discipline models diverge.

Goal & benefit

  • Provide terrain and reference points early and traceably.
  • Compare options on the same spatial basis.

Process

  1. Provide terrain and at least three reference points according to the surveyor delivery in LV95.
  2. Capture a colour point cloud if possible and align it with the terrain model.
  3. Set project-specific effort depth and check deliverables.

Outcome

  • Shared position and height reference with documented terrain for strategy choice.

Deliverables

  • Architecture model with IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and survey reference points (IfcBuildingElementProxy)
  • Terrain as surface geometry (IfcGeographicElement TERRAIN) in LV95
  • Terrain survey and control points in LV95
  • Point cloud recommended in colour; alignment with terrain model
  • Project-specific effort depth
