QA fire protection component values

Maintain fire resistance classes in the architecture model from the end of the building project phase and check them against the fire protection concept.

Starting point

  • Fire requirements for walls, slabs, openings, and load-bearing parts often exist only in reports; values are missing in the model.
  • Without consistent component data, verification and tendering are error-prone.

Goal & benefit

  • The architect enters fire resistance classes (VKF) on the governing components.
  • Fire protection planning can check values and gaps directly on the model.

Process

  1. Define the fire protection concept and required fire resistance classes.
  2. The architect enters FireRating, Status, and PredefinedType on walls, slabs, windows, doors, columns, and beams.
  3. Align values with the fire protection concept and permit documents.

Outcome

  • Architecture model with traceable fire resistance data as the basis for fire protection QA.

  • Architecture model with IfcWall (exterior and non-load-bearing interior walls), IfcSlab (FLOOR), IfcWindow, IfcDoor, IfcColumn, and IfcBeam
  • FireRating, Status, and PredefinedType per component
  • IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and IfcBuildingStorey
