Model parking spaces as dedicated spaces from building design onward and evaluate count and areas directly from the model.
Starting point
- Parking verification and metrics need a traceable count and area statement.
- Manual lists or 2D take-offs are error-prone and hard to align with the model.

- Carry each parking bay as its own space with a unique number.
- Derive parking count and area from the model.
Process
- From building design onward, model each parking bay as its own space with number and area.
- Count parking spaces in the model and evaluate areas.
- Derive the verification and metrics from the take-off.
Outcome
- Traceable parking verification from the model - count and area per bay.
Deliverables
- Architecture model with IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and IfcBuildingStorey
- Parking spaces as modelled IfcSpace volumes (PredefinedType=PARKING)
- Name with unique parking number (e.g. P0016)
- NetFloorArea per parking space
