Derive door planning foundations from the model

DES-DOOR · General · Design

Derive door planning foundations from the model - dimensions, door type, and opening direction for door schedules and coordination.

Starting point

  • After layout decisions, structured door data is often missing for schedules, quantities, and coordination.
  • Doors are frequently planned in 2D; dimensions and opening direction are not traceable in the model.

Goal & benefit

  • Maintain doors in the model with dimensions, PredefinedType, and OperationType.
  • Derive door planning foundations for schedules, option comparison, and coordination.

Process

  1. Provide the spatial layout and symbolic doors from layout planning.
  2. Add OverallWidth, OverallHeight, PredefinedType, and OperationType on doors.
  3. Derive and align door schedules and planning foundations from the model.

Outcome

  • Coordinated door planning foundations from the model - without execution-grade component detail.

Deliverables

  • Architecture model with IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and IfcBuildingStorey
  • Interior spaces as modelled IfcSpace volumes (PredefinedType=INTERNAL)
  • IfcDoor with PredefinedType, OverallWidth, OverallHeight, and OperationType (opening direction)
