Starting point

  • Ceiling mirrors are often planned in 2D; MEP coordination comes late.
  • Access openings in suspended ceilings are often missing from the model for tendering.

  • Suspended ceilings including access openings as a modelled layer with a defined underside for MEP coordination.

Process

  1. Provide interior spaces.
  2. Model suspended ceilings as layers with component types and access openings.
  3. Coordinate the ceiling mirror with relevant MEP insertions.

Outcome

  • Coordination-ready suspended ceiling in the model - from early room assignment through tender-ready ceiling mirror planning.

Deliverables

  • Architecture model with IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and IfcBuildingStorey
  • IfcSpace with FinishCeilingHeight - suspended ceiling height; for an uneven ceiling, the deepest underside
  • IfcCovering with PredefinedType=CEILING - suspended ceiling as one layer with defined underside
  • IfcDoor with PredefinedType=TRAPDOOR - access openings in suspended ceilings
