Starting point
- Ceiling mirrors are often planned in 2D; MEP coordination comes late.
- Access openings in suspended ceilings are often missing from the model for tendering.
Goal & benefit
- Suspended ceilings including access openings as a modelled layer with a defined underside for MEP coordination.
Process
- Provide interior spaces.
- Model suspended ceilings as layers with component types and access openings.
- Coordinate the ceiling mirror with relevant MEP insertions.
Outcome
- Coordination-ready suspended ceiling in the model - from early room assignment through tender-ready ceiling mirror planning.
Deliverables
- Architecture model with IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and IfcBuildingStorey
- IfcSpace with FinishCeilingHeight - suspended ceiling height; for an uneven ceiling, the deepest underside
- IfcCovering with PredefinedType=CEILING - suspended ceiling as one layer with defined underside
- IfcDoor with PredefinedType=TRAPDOOR - access openings in suspended ceilings
