Develop MEP schematics

DES-MEP-SCHEM · General · Design

Develop MEP system and riser schematics and formally approve them before construction.

Starting point

  • Building-services concepts and vertical distribution are often held only in loose sketches.
  • Without formal schematic approval, execution and 3D coordination lack a binding basis.

Goal & benefit

  • Maintain system and plant schematics and riser / shaft schematics bindingly.
  • Approve concepts before construction, complementary to early MEP coordination in the model.

Process

  1. Provide the MEP model with schematic pipes, ducts, trays, and shafts.
  2. Develop system and riser schematics and align them with architecture and specialists.
  3. Formally approve the schematics as the basis for execution and detail coordination.

Outcome

  • Formally approved system and riser schematics as the basis for MEP execution.

Deliverables

  • System and plant schematics (MEP) and riser schematics / shafts
  • MEP model with IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and IfcBuildingStorey
  • Schematic pipes, ducts, and trays (IfcPipeSegment, IfcDuctSegment, IfcCableCarrierSegment)
  • Equipment spaces and shafts (IfcBuildingElementProxy), downpipes (IfcPipeSegment)
