Develop MEP schematics
DES-MEP-SCHEM · General · Design
Develop MEP system and riser schematics and formally approve them before construction.
Starting point
- Building-services concepts and vertical distribution are often held only in loose sketches.
- Without formal schematic approval, execution and 3D coordination lack a binding basis.
Goal & benefit
- Maintain system and plant schematics and riser / shaft schematics bindingly.
- Approve concepts before construction, complementary to early MEP coordination in the model.
Process
- Provide the MEP model with schematic pipes, ducts, trays, and shafts.
- Develop system and riser schematics and align them with architecture and specialists.
- Formally approve the schematics as the basis for execution and detail coordination.
Outcome
- Formally approved system and riser schematics as the basis for MEP execution.
Deliverables
- System and plant schematics (MEP) and riser schematics / shafts
- MEP model with IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and IfcBuildingStorey
- Schematic pipes, ducts, and trays (IfcPipeSegment, IfcDuctSegment, IfcCableCarrierSegment)
- Equipment spaces and shafts (IfcBuildingElementProxy), downpipes (IfcPipeSegment)
