Furniture planning

DES-FURNITURE · General · Design

Maintain furniture in the model and decide location and type - schematically, without a product catalogue.

Starting point

  • After layout decisions, structured furniture data is often missing for schedules, options, and coordination.
  • Furniture is frequently planned only in 2D; location and type are not traceable in the model.

Goal & benefit

  • Maintain furniture in the model with designation and type.
  • Derive furniture planning foundations for schedules, option comparison, and alignment.

Process

  1. Provide interior spaces with use and dimensions.
  2. Place furniture schematically with Name and PredefinedType or ObjectType.
  3. Derive and align furniture schedules and planning foundations from the model.

Outcome

  • Coordinated furniture planning from the model - without execution-grade product detail.

Deliverables

  • Architecture model with IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and IfcBuildingStorey
  • Interior spaces as modelled IfcSpace volumes (PredefinedType=INTERNAL); LongName with use; NetFloorArea as size indication
  • IfcFurniture with Name and PredefinedType (IFC4+) or IfcFurnishingElement with ObjectType (IFC2x3)
