Develop the fire-case control matrix

DES-FIRE-MATRIX · General · Design

Formally approve the fire-case control matrix for detectors, dampers, actuators, and suppression equipment before construction.

Starting point

  • Fire-case control logic often exists only in tables without a link to MEP devices in the model.
  • Without formal matrix approval, execution lacks binding safety logic.

Goal & benefit

  • Maintain the matrix for detectors, dampers, actuators, and suppression bindingly.
  • Approve safety logic before construction, separate from the architecture fire concept.

Process

  1. Provide the MEP model with detectors, dampers, actuators, and suppression equipment.
  2. Develop the fire-case control matrix and align it with fire planning and MEP.
  3. Formally approve the matrix as the basis for execution.

Outcome

  • Formally approved fire-case control matrix as the basis for MEP execution.

Deliverables

  • Fire-case control matrix
  • MEP model with IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and IfcBuildingStorey
  • IfcAlarm, IfcSensor, IfcActuator, IfcDamper, IfcFireSuppressionTerminal, and IfcSwitchingDevice
  • No additional control attributes - matrix as the process deliverable
