Plan fastenings and suspensions from the model according to the contractor's requirements.

Starting point

  • Fastenings and suspensions are often improvised on site; materials and positions are missing from early planning.
  • Without an agreed model delivery it is unclear which geometry and data the contractor needs for fastening planning.

Goal & benefit

  • Deliver the coordinated structural and MEP model stage by stage as the basis for fastening and suspension planning.
  • Detailed design, product selection, and bills of materials remain with the contractor or supplier.

Process

  1. Provide the coordinated structural and MEP model per stage as agreed with the contractor.
  2. Agree with the contractor the common model reference and the delivery scope needed for fastening planning.
  3. Use the model for planning, bills of materials, and where applicable layout of fastening points.

Outcome

  • Executable fastening and suspension planning from the model by the contractor or supplier.

Deliverables

  • Structural model (host components: slabs, walls, beams) and MEP model (systems to be fixed) with geometry
  • Common model reference (reference points)
  • Further attributes, loads, materials, and filtering as agreed with the contractor
  • No Elementplan definition of product fastening means (channels, anchors, hangers)
