Managing the signage room number

Maintain and update signage room numbers in operation - separate from the technical planning room number.

Starting point

• Signage room numbers often change (use changes, wayfinding concept, tenant requests) and frequently differ from the planning number.
• The technical planning room number must stay stable; it is therefore not suitable as the carrier for signage.

Goal & benefit

• Carry signage numbers in the model without overwriting the stable planning number.
• Derive labelling, space management, and CAFM from the same checkable source.

Process

1. Keep interior spaces in the model with their stable technical room number (Name).
2. Maintain the signage room number as a separate attribute and update it when it changes.
3. Extract labelling and operations lists from the model and align them with the signage concept.

Outcome

• Current signage room numbers in the operations model - without mixing them with the planning room number.

Deliverables

• Architecture model with IfcProject, IfcSite, IfcBuilding, and IfcBuildingStorey
• Interior spaces (IfcSpace): Name (technical planning room number), SignageRoomNumber (ePset_SpaceSignage)
• Optional: exterior spaces (IfcSpace) with SignageRoomNumber if numbered for wayfinding
